For those of you who have been reading for a while I tend to post a fun tag or meme on Friday’s to get us into the weekend spirit.
The Book Beginnings on Friday book meme was created by Rose City Reader, where you share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
Interested to see what my current read had in store for me? Keep on reading to find out.

Lethal White (Cormoran Strike #4) by Robert Galbraith (Pseduonym J.K. Rowling)
Publisher: Sphere (September 18, 2018)
Print Length: 656 pages
When Billy, a troubled young man, comes to private eye Cormoran Strike’s office to ask for his help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, Strike is left deeply unsettled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed, and cannot remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story. But before Strike can question him further, Billy bolts from his office in a panic.
Trying to get to the bottom of Billy’s story, Strike and Robin Ellacott—once his assistant, now a partner in the agency—set off on a twisting trail that leads them through the backstreets of London, into a secretive inner sanctum within Parliament, and to a beautiful but sinister manor house deep in the countryside.
And during this labyrinthine investigation, Strike’s own life is far from straightforward: his newfound fame as a private eye means he can no longer operate behind the scenes as he once did. Plus, his relationship with his former assistant is more fraught than it ever has been—Robin is now invaluable to Strike in the business, but their personal relationship is much, much trickier than that.
“If only the swans would swim side by side on the dark green lake, this picture might turn out to be the crowning achievement of the wedding photographer’s career.”
I have been hyped up for this book ever since J.K. Rowling dropped the release date of September 18, 2018 on Twitter on July 10. After two months of waiting it is finally in my hands and the first sentence did not disappoint. I don’t want to give anything away, given that this is the fourth book in the Cormoran Strike series, but Rowling has once again drawn me in by choosing to start Lethal White during the aftermath of the wedding.
