Publications: Harry Potter series – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (#1), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (#2), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (#3), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (#4), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (#5), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (#6), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (#7) The Casual Vacancy, Comoran Strike series The Cuckoo’s Calling (#1), The Silkworm (#2), Career of Evil (#3)

Upcoming releases: Lethal White (Comoran Strike #4, 2018?)

The Review

While the upcoming releases section is abysmal at best, there will never be a novel release from J.K. Rowling, whether it be in the fantasy, sci-fi, or mystery genres that I won’t purchase. I mean, come on. Are we even surprised she showed up on this list?

Publications: The Winternight TrilogyThe Bear and the Nightingale (#1), The Girl in the Tower (#2)

Upcoming releases: The Winter of the Witch (Winternight Trilogy #3, August 14, 2018) Small Spaces (September 25, 2018)

The Review

I first found Katherine Arden after I fell in love with the cover design of her debut novel, The Bear and the Nightingale. Flash forward three years later and I am still as eager to get my hands on her upcoming releases as I was when I first found out about her debut. Her writing is gorgeous and her ideas are unparalleled in historical fiction fantasy genre.

4575289Leigh Bardugo

Publications: Grisha Verse series – The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic (#0.5), Shadow and Bone (#1), Seige and Storm (#2), Ruin and Rising (#3) Six of Crows duology – Six of Crows (#1), Crooked Kingdom (#2) DC IconsWonder Woman: Warbringer

Upcoming releases: King of Scars (2019), Ninth House (Alex Stern #1, June 4, 2019)

The Review

I can admit it, I was late to the Bardugo train. I picked up Six of Crows late in 2016, and since then have been obsessed with getting my hands on everything she releases. Unfortunately, it looks like I have to wait until 2019 before she releases anything new in the fantasy genre. Until then, I think I’ll grab the only book of hers I don’t currently own, Wonder Woman: Warbringer.

3433047Sarah J. Maas

Publications: Throne of Glass series – The Assassin’s Blade (#0.5), Throne of Glass (#1), Crown of Midnight (#2), Heir of Fire (#3), Queen of Shadows (#4), Empire of Storms (#5), Tower of Dawn (#6), A Court of Thorns and Roses series – A Court of Thorns and Roses (#1), A Court of Mist and Fury (#2), A Court of Wings and Ruin (#3)

Upcoming releases: A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.5, May 1, 2018), Catwoman: Soulstealer (DC Icons #3, August 7, 2018), Untitled (Throne of Glass #7, October 30, 2018

The Review

As with Bardugo, I was rather late to hop on the Maas train. Also like Bardugo, however, I will auto-buy anything she releases in the fantasy genre for the foreseeable future. Be prepared for a review for A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3.5) within the week it is released. So excited!

4039811Veronica Roth

Publications: Divergent series – Four (#0.5), Divergent (#1), Insurgent (#2), Allegiant (#3) Carve the Mark series – Carve the Mark (#1)

Upcoming releases: The Fates Divide (Carve the Mark #2, April 10, 2018)

The Review

While not my top auto-buy author, I do still own every novel Roth has published. I did rather enjoy the ‘Divergent’ series, minus Allegiant being spoiled for me, and even though Carve the Mark has some problematic areas, I will be picking up The Fates Divide to see if Roth learned a thing or two from her scandal.
