Tag: Currently Reading Book Tag

Today’s post is something I saw while reading Kathy’s Books & Munches blog post here on WordPress. Though she technically didn’t name drop me Kathy did tag “anyone who feels like doing this tag” so I figured I would answer these questions myself. Interested to see what I’m currently reading? Keep on reading to find out my thoughts and opinions.

_ _ _

How many books do you usually read at once?

I usually read one physically book and listen to one audiobook at a time.

If you are reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?

If I am at work you can bet I’m listening to my audiobook, but when I get home out comes the physical book.

Do you ever switch bookmarks while you are partway through a book?

Is this a thing? I mean my sister got me a really awesome Shakespeare bookmark for Christmas and immediately switched out the bookmark I was using for it, so, yes?

Where do you keep the book(s) you are currently reading?

For the physical book wherever I am and the audiobook is on my phone.

What time of day do you spend the most time reading?

A lazy weekend day. I could honestly spend all day curled up with a blanket on the couch reading if I had the option.

How long do you typically read in one sitting?

For physical books it depends on how long I have and how much I am invested in the book. For audiobooks, because I listen to them at work, I tend to spend my entire eight hour shift listening.

Do you read hardbacks with the dust jacket on or off?

Always off, always.

What position do yo mainly use to read?

Well I could start with “a one, a two, a one two three, a three, a five, a four, a three two, two, a two four six, a two four six, four, two, two, four seven, five seven, six seven, [starts shouting] seven. Seven seven SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN” (Yes that was a Friends reference, thanks for noticing.) In all honesty though out of all of them I would probably say a two.

Do you take the book you are currently reading with you everywhere?

It’s odd, considering if I’m not at home I’m generally not reading a physical book, but yes both books I am currently reading are ALWAYS with me.

How often do you update your Goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?

I try not to update too often. If I do, it’s usually to see how much progress I’ve made on a particular book, whether to see how many more pages I have or have to drag myself through.

And those are my answers for the Currently Reading Book Tag. Want to answer the questions but haven’t been tagged? Take this as me taking a page out of Kathy’s book and tagging you. Leave a comment or link to your post below!

Oh this sounds like a good tag. I’ll write this up and schedule it when I get a moment. I often read a couple of books at the same time, especially if I’m reading in two languages or have an audiobook on the go alongside a physical book. In fact I’m doing that at the moment because I’m listening to Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (which is taking me a while) and reading Let Loose the Dogs by Maureen Jennings. People ask me if I often get confused but I don’t because they’re always completely different books – one will be fantasy, the other crime, or contemporary.

Can’t wait to read your responses! How do you like listening to Laini Taylor’s books on audio? I have Daughter of Smoke and Bone and it just keeps getting pushed down for other audiobooks. Having an audiobook and physical book in different genres is usually how I read, glad to know I’m not alone 🙂

I’m doing well with Strange the Dreamer but I think that’s because I’ve already read it once so some of the plot is still in my mind. I was also perfectly fine with Daughter of Smoke and Bone for the same reason, although I didn’t remember some of the details as much as I thought. However, with Days of Blood and Starlight (the second book in that trilogy), I struggled following it and had to keep rewinding it. I stopped listening to it after a while and told myself I’d read it from my paperback but I never did for some reason. I think if you can though, it is one of those series that you’re better reading from physical copies.
