The first day of the Bout of Books 17 Read-a-Thon is almost at an end and I figured I would take the time to update you on my progress.
Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs 240/416 pages
I’ve read roughly half of this novel, and while I’m really enjoying it, I feel like I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn’t watched the t.v. show Bones first. Temperance Brennan in the novel is different in many ways, first and formost being the fact that she’s okay with jumping to conclusions. If you’re a fan of the show you know Brennan’s number one rule is to not make conclusions that can’t be backed up by the evidence. Another difference between show Brennan and novel Brennan is that she’s an alcoholic in the novel. This adds a complex angle to novel Brennan that seems to work well with the character being presented. In all, I’m enjoying it and hoping to be done with this novel no later than Wednesday.
News of the World by Paulette Jiles 30/224 pages
I only got through the first 30 pages so nothing major to report here.
Omari and the People by Stephen Whitfield 2hrs52m/11h17m
This novel wasn’t featured on my original Bout of Books TBR, but I am a host for the Omari and the People audiobook blog tour and figured I should start this as soon as possible so that my review is good to go earlier than needed. So far I’m enjoying both the story and the narrator, but I don’t want to say too much because I want to have something to write about in my review!
That’s all for now, make sure to come back on Wednesday where I will hopefully have another update.
