As someone who struggles with bulking out time to sit down and read, I am constantly on the hunt for the next best audiobook service.
I’ve been subscribed to Audible on and off for about a year, but I find the wait between credits to be too long for someone who goes through audiobooks as fast as physical books. As such, I use an app called Audiobooks for public domain books to sustain me between the best-sellers found on Audible. However, while perusing the various bookstagram pages I came across an add for an app called TuneIn radio that could very well be the next big thing.
According to their website TuneIn Radio,
enables people to discover, follow and listen to what’s most important to them — from sports, to news, to music, to talk. TuneIn provides listeners access to over 100,000 real radio stations and more than four million podcasts streaming from every continent.
However, the reason I downloaded TuneIn is because of the boasted about audiobook function. For the privileges that come with a premium account, users pay a monthly fee of $13.99.
WOW. Where has this app been all my audiobook listening life.
Considering Audible is a monthly fee of $14.95 for one free audiobook credit, TuneIn is already a better bang for my buck. On my profile I have 16 audiobooks in a queue, waiting until I either finish or DNF the audiobook I am currently listening to.
The interface is pretty easy to navigate, however, if I had to offer one piece of criticism it would be that the Premium Audiobook tab doesn’t lists titles alphabetically for easier searching.
I think I’ll get some good use out of this app, and hopefully as I continue to use it, it will continue to serve my needs as an audiobook service.
Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
